On Monday, April 14th, 2025, the International Judo Federation officially confirmed that France will be the host nation for the 2025 edition of the Kata and Veterans World Championships.

Following the extraordinary success of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the consistently high-profile Paris Grand Slam, France once again steps into the spotlight as the proud venue for another major international judo event. After last year’s memorable edition in Las Vegas, the Championships are now set to return to Europe, with Paris welcoming judo enthusiasts and competitors from all over the globe.

This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from the 3rd to the 9th of November. The opening days will be dedicated to the veterans’ competition, running from the 3rd to the 7th, while the kata specialists will take the stage on the 8th and 9th. It promises to be a vibrant week celebrating both the technical precision and lifelong dedication that define these two unique judo communities.

More detailed information, including schedules, registration guidelines, and logistical outlines, will be released soon to help participants and spectators prepare for their trip to the French capital.

Jean-Luc Rougé, chair of the IJF Kata Commission, and Denis Weisser, chair of the IJF Veterans’ Commission, shared their excitement with the global judo family, saying, “Please mark your calendars and get ready to be part of this exceptional judo gathering. We wish everyone the best in their preparations and look forward to seeing you in Paris!”

The 2025 Kata and Veterans World Championships promise to be more than just a competition—they will be a celebration of skill, tradition, and the enduring spirit of judo, all set against the iconic backdrop of one of the world’s most beloved cities.
